Neuroblastoma Markers

Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid cancer in infancy and childhood. It is a neuroendocrine tumor, arising from any neural crest element of the sympathetic nervous system. Close to 50 percent of neuroblastoma cases occur in children younger than two years old.

Dopamine Decarboxylase (DDC)

  • DDC mRNA in neuroblastoma (NB) patients could be a potential marker for minimal residual disease study. PMID: 15322424

GAGE

  • may offer added sensitivity in detecting neuroblastoma (NB) in both BM and PB. PMID: 9815755

MYCN

  • Circulating MYCN DNA as a tumor-specific marker in neuroblastoma patients. PMID: 12097268

NSE (Neuron-specific enolase)

  • can serve as a biochemical marker for neuroblastoma and be useful in the differential diagnosis of neuroblastoma and Wilms' tumor. PMID: 6288908
