  • Motile prostate cancer cell lines express vimentin. In tissue sections, the presence of vimentin positive tumour cells correlated positively to poorly differentiated cancers and the presence of bone metastases. PMID: 12210485

  • Immunohistochemical assay also revealed that vimentin expression was much higher for oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) specimens than for normal buccal mucosa. PMID: 12110335

  • Myoepithelial cells in the virgin rat mammary gland have been shown to contain vimentin, using a polyclonal antiserum to vimentin purified from hamster fibroblasts. This antiserum has been shown to be specific for vimentin by immunoblotting and ELISA techniques. PMID: 2684927

  • We have developed a flow cytometric assay for the detection of antibodies to vimentin and have investigated whether HLA or vimentin antibodies are present in renal transplant recipients undergoing chronic rejection. PMID: 15848491
